Welcome to Through Our Eyes

Our Mission

Literature has the potential to be a powerful tool for change. From Harper Lee, to Ray Bradbury, to Amanda Gorman, the most impactful creative writers weave their own experiences and observations into words to teach meaningful lessons. Yet, current English curriculums place little emphasis on teaching such generative expression, disengaging students from the merit of literature. Through Our Eyes encourages and amplifies student voice through prose and poetry, allowing the world to hear the mighty voices of this generation. As a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we edit and publish peer writing and teach creative self-expression across America.

LOCAL INVOLVEMENT

In addition to publishing high school writing, we work with students of all ages to instill in them the value of creative expression. Based in southern California, we are planning several local youth writers’ workshops and a summer writing program for middle school students. We also provide each of our nationwide chapters with a tailored curriculum for their club or event (if you’re interested in starting a chapter, see “Chapter Information” above).
